October is here! And so are the Halloween movies, candy, and UofM fall break. Halloween is always an exciting time where we can all showcase our darker side. Memphis locals are in luck because there is plenty of fun to get into when October rolls around every year. The activities listed below are not the only events being held in the city but simply a starter pack for anyone who is trying to set the tone for the best fall season ever. Finally, lets hop right into the fun.
Memphis Madness Oct 12th. 7pm Start time. Doors open at 6pm
On October 12th at 7 p.m., the Memphis Tigers men’s and women’s basketball teams are bringing back their Memphis Madness event to the FedEx forum. It will have a variety of events that Memphis Tigers fans of all ages will enjoy including a dunk contest, three-point shootout, and scrimmage. There will be musical entertainment with artists like iHeartMemphis and Gabrielle Nicole performing as well. Doors open at 6 p.m. and both basketball teams will be available to sign autographs.
Spooky Nights at Shelby Farms Park
If you’re looking for something to get you in the Halloween spirit, Shelby Farms Park has you covered. Starting on October 3rd and ending on November 1st, Shelby Farms will be the host of a number of spooky events every Friday and Saturday night from 7pm – 10 pm. Some of the popular activities include Zombie Paintball Hayride, Zombie Laser Tag, The Haunted Trail, and the Headless Horseman Hayride.
Memphis Tigers vs Navy game
On the weekend beginning the University of Memphis fall break, the Memphis Tigers football team will square off against the Navy Midshipmen. The game is set to kick off on October 14th at 2:45 CDT at the Liberty Bowl. A tiger win would be a great start to the 2017 fall break so make sure you are there to help push our Tigers to a victory!
Mempho Music Festival
Looking to immerse yourself in Memphis’s musical history? MEMPHO will be the host of the first annual MEMPHO Music Festival located at the Shelby Farms Park. This is going to be a 2 day event that will allow participants to enjoy music, food, and nature simultaneously. The fun begins on October 6th at 12 pm and ends the following day on Saturday, October 7th.
