There’s No Place Like Home like the Liberty Bowl stadium on game day! What better time to show your school spirit during Homecoming Week? Starting on Monday, September 18th, there will be different spirit week events being held around the University of Memphis campus. If one event does not spike your interest, there will be plenty more to participate in due to the numerous organization involved at the school.
The Homecoming Kickoff will begin on Monday, September 18th, 11:15 am, at the Fountain Plaza on campus. Students will have a chance to snap a photo with Tom the Tiger III with the Blue fountain water springing up in the background. Before you pose with Tom, be sure to stop by the Tiger Bookstore located on Walker Avenue to purchase a $5 game day tee before they are gone. After the kickoff, there will be the Blue Brick Road Relay at the Memorial Field track where homecoming participants will have teams of four students who will participate in a relay race.
Tuesday’s events start off at 10 am and end at 6 pm. Students will have a chance to make their own stuffed tiger novelties. For the rest of the time, there will be tables set up for students to write letters out to people asking for donations that will go to the Up ‘til Dawn program.
Be ready to get active on Wednesday because the opening event is going to take a little effort. At noon, there will be a campus-wide scavenger hunt called “Where’s Baby TJ”. The concept of the hunt is for students use the clues provided to them in order to find all of the Baby Tom stuffed animals placed around the local campus. The more Toms collected, the more homecoming points that team will receive. Once, the hunt settles down there will be a screening & panel for the movie thriller “Get Out” at 5:30pm in the UC Theater.
Thursday afternoon comes with more activities that will get you up and moving. Starting at 2 pm, the will be a flag football tournament taking place on the UC lawn for those interested. The teams will consist of 7 players on the field and a few backups ready to step in. The winners will also receiving homecoming points. Later on into the night, SAC with be hosting an event called the “Night Crew ft. NPHC”. This is an opportunity for students to dance to a DJ playing their favorite music with refreshments available for everyone.
After a busy week of events, Friday will be no different with the start of the University of Memphis homecoming parade and the pep rally that will proceed right at the end. All of this will begin at 5:30 pm. Finally, the last event of homecoming week with be the Homecoming Comedy Show at 8:30 pm. Details have not been provided as of yet about who will be the special guest but be on the lookout for announcements on University of Memphis social media pages.

12:00 p.m. — Tiger Village open for set up (Memphis Student Tailgate area)
3:00 p.m. — General Ticket Sales/Will Call Windows open at Gate 1 and Ticket Towers off Tiger Lane
4:30 p.m. — General Ticket Sales at Gate 3
4:30 p.m. — Tiger Walk on Tiger Lane Near Fountain (Weather Permitting)
5:00 p.m. – Pipkin Hospitality area opens. $10 for Tiger Scholarship Fund, M Club, Alumni Association and 901 Club members
5:30 p.m. — Gates 1-6 and Suites Open
5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. – $4 draft beers for the first 45 minutes after gates open
6:40 p.m. — On-Field Pre-Game Begins
7:05 p.m. — Official Kick-Off Time
